Adventure travel, Africa
I've been to over 80 countries, and am always drawn to places that offer some adventure. Places like Africa, Galapagos, Antarctica, Tibet, India, Chile, and New Zealand are always a joy to plan for clients.
I have a degree in Foreign Service and always assumed I'd work abroad for the majority of my life. I stumbled into a career in travel almost 40 years ago and it has allowed me to raise a family and work with people dedicated to hospitality and to introducing the world to my clients!
I travel about 100,000 miles per year, and honestly every trip has been memorable for me, I am all about the learning, and my best trips are always where I've been able to learn new things - both about the destination and about myself.
I always recommend some type of wrap (jacket, sweater, scarf) for airplane travel. You can't control the temps onboard and planes are often very chilly! Many airplanes now offer charging plugs and/or USB ports right at the seat. Make sure you have a charging cord and plug in your carry on.
I think everyone should go on at least one trip in their life that really tests the boundaries of their comfort zones. Whether this means traveling to a place where you don't' speak the language, or might be afraid of the animals (Africa, Galapagos, Antarctica, etc) or might be in a very exotic place far away like Thailand or India, travel can be life changing!

I have traveled to 6 or the 7 continents. Hoping to make it to Australia and/or New Zealand soon. Countries I have visited: Antarctica, Japan, China, South Africa, Costa Rica, Argentina, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Holland, England, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Mexico, most of the Caribbean Islands.
Growing up an Army brat, I have been fortunate enough to live in Berlin, Germany (6 years) and Misawa, Japan (18 months). With my extensive travels abroad during this period, I had developed an insatiable desire to travel the world so I can experience its beauty, diverse culture, and exquisite cuisine and have passed this same love of travel on to my children. I came to McCabe World Travel in 1997 with a degree in Finance. I manage the Accounting, Human Capital, Information Technology, and the day to day operations of the company. My favorite travel quote: "We travel not to escape life but for life not to escape us."
All my trip are most uniquely memorable.
Be "in the moment" when you travel. Put away your work phones and computers. Be present!

I grew up in a small Kansas town with 1500 people and, thankfully, my parents encouraged me to travel. After studying anthropology and museum administration I fell into a travel marketing position and was immediately hooked! Even after 25 years in the travel industry I still have a constant curiosity that drives me to explore. I travel to learn about cultures, history, and the natural world. I love being pushed beyond my comfort zone and specialize in expedition/active travel and am a complete hotel nerd.
An expedition cruise to Antarctica and South Georgia changed my life in so many ways. Beyond wildlife and adventure, the journey gave me new perspective on life and how I see the world. Nothing can prepare you for the emotion of kayaking around icebergs in a cove never charted (and, it was my birthday!), then later standing on a black beach with hundreds of thousands of King Penguins while a baby elephant seal sits at your feet.
I have a mini steamer that I bring with me to do double duty during my travels. I use it to boil water for making perfect coffee in my Aero-press (super-compact french press), and to steam my clothes. And it's pink!

Amanda grew up traveling with her family, but was really bitten by the travel bug when she spent summers in SE Asia in high school. Much of her travel has focused on exploring less-touristed and adventurous locations like Oman, Ethiopia, or Myanmar (65 countries and counting)! She has lived in Amman, Wanaka (NZ), Cape Town, and London, but now calls Denver home. Her professional background is in service design, CXD, and strategy, and she is responsible for all things digital and process strategy at McCabe World Travel.
I was lucky enough to explore the Galapagos Islands on an expedition cruise at 8 years old! The trip whet my appetite to learn about the world and it's many different cultures, histories, and geographies. To this day, I plan my travel and itineraries around opportunities to learn as much as possible.
Make a list of pinned sights to see, restaurants, cafes, etc. as you're researching your destination. This will allow you to explore more organically and stop into pre-approved places of interest that you find yourself nearby as you wander!
A safari is a truly transformative experience. You feel so in awe of nature, so connected to the earth, and so small and insignificant all at the same time!

I have spent most of my life travelling and enjoying new experiences. Having lived in eight different countries spanning five different continents I always look forward to my next adventure. I love the variety of people, food and culture that travelling brings as well as learning about history. I grew up in Uganda, rich in traditions and customs it was difficult to leave behind when we moved to India but that was when I realized a whole new way of life. After finishing university in Baroda, I flew to England settling for a while before jetting off again with my husband and children. I have since called Bangladesh, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Kenya and now the US home. I have had the good fortune to travel widely from the driest savannah of the Serengeti to the stunning scenery of Alaska, taking in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and the temples of Myanmar along the way.
I have wonderful memories from my travel around the world, but the most recent ones are when I visited Bali with my family when were fortunate enough to visit the historically and culturally significant Besakih temple complex, also known as the 'Mother Temple. ' This 1,000-year-old collection of around 86 temples is considered to be one of the holiest pilgrimages on Bali. As well as being some of the oldest temples on the island, this World Heritage site boasts spectacular stonework structures, representing different aspects of Hinduism. The temples are incredibly situated high up on the side of a mountain with spectacular views. There is an ancient processional road leading up to a series of temples seemingly higher and higher into the sky. Probably because I am Hindu, the family was allowed into the highest temple for prayers and were all blessed by the priest. A special honor at a very special place.
Keep a journal, record all the places you visit.
Africa has Amazing cultural diversity, Unique landscapes, ancient history, Geographical wonders, Beautiful tropical beaches and water sports, and above all great safari experience.

My first solo trip was when I went to study abroad in Japan while I was in high school. After that, I was determined to see more of Japan and the world, and after graduating college, I moved there to teach English to elementary school students. Over the next 6 years, I traveled extensively throughout Asia and Japan, visiting every prefecture and most countries in East / Southeast Asia, while supplementing my income with freelance travel writing. Now that I’m back in the Western hemisphere, I’m focusing on exploring more of Europe and Latin America. I love being able to learn about or experience new things, whether it's hunting for the best egg coffee and pho in Hanoi, learning a traditional dance at a festival in Japan, meeting a shaman in Guatemala, or swimming in the Dead Sea while in Jordan. One of my favorite things to do is simply get lost in a new city and wander around without a particular destination; it's amazing what you can find purely by accident!
Japan will always hold a special place in my heart, and there are so many hidden gems there, like the desert-like sand dunes a few hours from Hiroshima or the stunning cedar rainforests in the UNESCO site of Yakushima. However, my favorite trip was to the Tohoku region, the northernmost part of the main island. There I hopped from one spectacular summer festival to another, with additional stops at a wild horse reserve at the top of the island, an eerily beautiful temple situation near what’s believed to be the entrance to the Buddhist afterlife, and black stone beaches and dramatic cliffs along the coast. While this part of Japan is less visited by international tourists, it’s an amazing place to experience Japan’s “ometenashi” or warm hospitality and appreciate its natural beauty.
I recommend traveling with a journal. One of my favorite things when traveling is to have a leisurely breakfast at the hotel or stop in a cafe in the afternoon to write. It's a great way to decompress and reflect on the things you’ve done, plus it's fun to look back on past adventures between trips.
Machu Picchu is a destination on many people’s bucket list - and for good reason - but Peru has so much more to offer. Lima is a fantastic spot to find great food and street art while charming Cusco is the perfect place get lost in while wandering through its picaresque streets. While Machu Picchu is deservedly the most famous, there are plenty of other impressive Inca archeological sites throughout the Sacred Valley; it’s an area worth lingering in to appreciate Peru’s gorgeous landscapes and awe inspiring history.

I love exploring the world, learning about different cultures and history, meeting people. I enjoy passing on my knowledge and experiences to my clients.
I have never travelled to a destination I did not like. It is important to keep an open mind. I love India and the kindness of people. I love Bali for it's beauty. I love Europe for the rich history and culture.
Always arrive at least one day prior to the start of a tour or cruise. It helps to get over jet lag and avoids worries about flight delays or cancellations.
Visit Egypt. The archeological sites are amazing!

I have been on an incredible journey creating celebrations with unique experiences resulting in lifelong long memories for 25 plus years in travel. In doing so, long term relationships have been formed and I am excited to say I began planning travel for my third generation this year with an engagement trip. My personal passion for travel keeps me searching for that next adventure to share. The question I get asked most is "What's on your Wanderlist?" This year the top on my list is Japan, New Zealand and the Patagonia region.
My most memorable trip has to be when I introduced Europe to all my nephews on a six week trip. For me to experience Europe through their eyes was priceless and it ignited the passion to travel for them all. Mission accomplished!
My best travel tip is to keep your passport updated. You never know when a special opportunity to travel presents itself.

Growing up in Germany I travelled all over Europe with my family, but I did not get the true travel bug until I joined my neighbors/best friends' family on a 6-month trip to Bolivia at the age of 14. It was then, that I was able to truly immerse myself in a new Culture, make new friends and learned that there is so much more to explore. I am so grateful I found a profession, in which I can share my passion for travel and new cultures with my clients.

My most memorable trip was going to south America for six months. During that time, I was able to visit Bolivia, Chile and Peru, and got a great feel for the differences each country had to offer. From the city live in La Paz to the Andes mountains with Machu Picchu, to Lake Titicaca, the Uyuni salt flats and the Yungas forest, I saw and learned so much on this once in a lifetime adventure.
My travel tip is to try a food tour wherever you go. It is not only the cuisine you are tasting but you learn a lot about local traditions and cultures in the food you are tasting.
A travel experience I think everybody should try is traveling by cruise ship. There are many different cruise ship options that can fit almost any traveler's needs. Once you are on the ship you will use it as your base to visit many different destinations in one trip and the best part is, you only have to unpack once.

Favorite destinations are: U. K. and Ireland - villages steeped in history and folklore; France and Italy - wandering through cobblestone streets to find the perfect moment captured in memory, sunset over the domes of Rome, cliffside villages commanding views of the sea, a taste of local fare.
Traveling to me is about discovering a place for the first time, or rediscovering an old favorite. My personal quest is finding a destination with history, scenic countryside, villages, warm hospitality, and timeless beauty. Sharing travel with family and friends give moments that we will remember forever. Whether it is a celebratory event, or a multi-generational family vacation, each trip is an investment in memories.

One of my most memorable trips was when a volcano ash cloud turned my two day hotel inspection trip to Paris into a leisurely week of exploring Paris and the French countryside with no deadlines. I couldn't have planned it better!
If planning a trip to sightsee and explore, my best travel tip is to pack an extra pair of comfortable walking shoes. We always walk more than expected while exploring and sometimes the weather can be inclement!
The travel experience everyone should have is one that inspires gratitude and awe personally. My experience was Normandy and being moved by the examples of human courage that changed the course of history on the world stage at that moment. One of my greatest rewards is hearing from my clients about that special travel experience that touched their lives.

Growing up, I was fascinated with other cultures and foreign countries but didn't have the opportunity to explore as I would have liked. I spent time researching destinations and planning itineraries for trips I knew I likely wouldn't take for many years but just like that, I had the travel bug. In 2015, I started traveling Internationally and since then, I have been to 27 countries including 5 continents and many islands with Switzerland, Costa Rica, Singapore, Cambodia and France being some of my favorites. I greatly enjoy bringing that same feeling to my clients when they describe dream trips and I share how we can make them come true.

I waited quite a while before traveling to France and it was so worth it in the end. I was able to visit Paris the right way with stays in amazing hotels and finally getting to check off some wonderful attractions such as Mont St. Michel.
If you travel at least once a year to Europe or the Caribbean (or both!), purchase hot hair tools with European plugs. It makes it so much easier to travel knowing I don't have to worry if the adapter or converter doesn't happen to work with my hair tools but I did have to learn this lesson the hard way!
I think that cultural immersion is such an important part of visiting a destination. While of course there are reasons that tourist attractions are popular, I always enjoy getting off the beaten path such as joining a drum circle in Anguilla, eating crickets in Mexico or visiting a market where locals barter for goods.

During a study abroad stint in Spain, I fell in love with the country and immediately began planning my return. I spent the year after graduation in sunny Valencia as an assistant English teacher, where every available weekend was spent traveling to an undiscovered destination. I caught the travel bug so badly that I wanted to find an occupation that fed my love for travel everyday, and McCabe World Travel was the answer!
My honeymoon! We managed to fit in both discovery and relaxation - Buzzing around incredible Istanbul, exploring the ancient ruins of Ephesus, and hiking the otherworldly landscape of Cappadocia. We capped it off with a restorative stay in the Maldives.
Always remember to leave room in your suitcase for gifts and souvenirs!
Definitely hot air ballooning!

My curiosity of the world and enthusiasm for adventures motivated me to pursue a career in the travel industry, which started with working a European cruise line. I take great care with creating customized vacation experiences, depending on an individual's interests while anticipating needs, while providing exceptional customer service. I have developed keen attention to detail for planning itineraries and enjoy elevating travel experiences for my clients. I am particularly enthusiastic about destinations where nature and wildlife intersect with wine county, such as Australia, New Zealand, and Africa as well as old world wine country. Getting to know clients, growing their world and creating special moments that turn into lasting memories rewards me.
My travels through the years, have brought me to numerous beautiful and interesting places around the world. A trip to Australia that started with a ''wild bush adventure" in the Northern Territory was an incredibly unique experience, that most people including Aussies do not get to. Australia is full of unique adventures where I also found interesting wildlife, great wine, friendly people and scenic landscapes.
It's always a great idea to try regional cuisine as well as local beverage selections, which can showcase unique insight and allow the opportunity to appreciate a culture.
I believe that people should travel as much and as comfortably as possible! I love the saying 'Travel is the only thing that makes you richer' and believe that experiences are key to a fulfilling life. As a travel consultant, I find great pleasure in creating customized and personal travel experiences of all types, but most of all when one has the opportunity to enjoy a region through local wines. Whether sipping wine at a boutique winery while taking in breathtaking views from Waiheke Island, tasting Chateauneuf de Pape in historic cellars of Southern France, or enjoying fresh pesto pasta with a crisp Pinot Grigio gazing at the scenic Portofino Bay, I revel in these cherished moments.

I lived in a small town in Texas but my junior year in high school I had the opportunity to spend 6 weeks in Europe--it changed my life in opening up the world to me. When my children were old enough we traveled everywhere with them as well and it allowed them the ability to understand cultures and want to know more about the world. In deciding what to do when I "grew up" after being a lawyer and a "stay at home mom", I knew I wanted to share my love for travel and what i had learned by travelling with others. I hope that I bring that passion for enjoyment and learning to each trip I plan with my clients.

My most memorable trip was the first one I took to Africa. Africa sunsets and sunrises and the smell of the air made me understand I was someplace special. Seeing the migration below me from a hot air balloon allowed me to experience a feeling of amazement. Africa gives you the feeling that you are someplace magical and that the world is good.
Tipping always seemed the hardest thing until I began to figure out what I would need and place it in envelopes in the correct bill sizes for each tip I would plan to make.
Everyone should go to Africa with people they love so that they can share the wonder there. It is like no place else on earth!! Africa makes you feel that you are a part of something larger than just yourself.

Travel is an opportunity to explore the world, fostering personal growth and creating lasting memories. My journey began with a deep curiosity about diverse cultures and a passion for creating unique and meaningful experiences. Having solo-traveled through seven countries, I honed the skills of meticulous planning and budgeting, ensuring that each journey goes beyond a mere trip to become a transformative adventure. This experience not only equipped me with practical planning skills but also highlighted the importance of connecting with others and the joy of making memories. What I cherish most about being in travel is the opportunity to be a memory-maker, facilitating journeys that explore the world, inspire personal growth, and foster cultural understanding.
My most memorable trip would be to Ha Long Bay in Vietnam. It's stunning natural beauty is best viewed on a small cruise boat where you can explore the caves and kayak through the unique rock formations.
Pro tip: If you're short on time, use a theme for your trip and align your itinerary to it! Pro tip: Grab local currency using an atm at the airport for the best conversion rate and to avoid exchange fees.
Hualien, Taiwan! It's a nice mix of indigenous culture, beach and city with plenty of things to do and very surprising culinary offerings such as Ivorian and Southern BBQ restaurants.

As an avid traveler, I've visited many destinations all over the world, acquiring great insights into many cultures and ways of life. From the bustling streets of Tokyo to the tranquil beaches of Bali, I experienced firsthand the beauty and diversity of our planet. This significant travel experience has given me a deep understanding and admiration for diverse cultures, customs, and traditions. As an extensive traveler whose travel career has included working with VIP families, I have the expertise to assist clients in planning their trips by providing personalized recommendations. I believe that each client has unique travel needs and interests, and it's important to understand their preferences in order to create a tailored travel experience.
My tip is to research your destination and their local customs. I think it is important to respect local customs and traditions and be open to try new things. Be an explorer, not a tourist.
My Amazon trip was a unique and unforgettable experience. The Amazon is one of the most biodiverse regions in the world, and you'll have the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife, including monkeys, sloths, jaguars and colorful birds. You can go on a guided nature walk or take a boat tour to spot the pink dolphins, or fish Pirahna. The Amazon is also home to many indigenous communities, each with their own customs and traditions. You can learn about their way of life by visiting local villages, interacting with people, and participating in cultural activities like dances: BUMBA show.

Growing up a dual citizen of the US and Austria, a passion for traveling and exploring the world was instilled in me a young age. This was then furthered by my degree in international relations. My primary interest and passion when traveling is to explore the history of the country I'm visiting as well the culture & food. I love to get off the beaten track and see a country through the eyes of the locals.
Try to venture off the beaten path, away from the tourists, and experience local life! It'll give you a fascinating look into the local culture.

I have been in the Travel Industry since 1975 when some airlines weren't fully automated and have lived thru paper handwritten to tickets to today's highly sophisticated smart computers. Those days it took a whole day to manually recalculate a change in the middle of a Round-the-World trip. Today, 50 years later, it is almost instantaneous with auto-pricing! At McCabe World Travel, I "bring myself along" onto each trip I book for our valued clients. I put myself in their shoes and asked: "What would Helena want in terms of Service, the Best Routings and the Best Fares?" This motto always works wonders for each and every Traveler.
Florence - my all-time best, is forever etched in my memory. Florence is the epitome of Renaissance art and architecture as well as the center of the Renaissance period in history. Being a history/Renaissance enthusiast, naturally my other picks are Rome and Paris-Versailles. Medieval Castles are also my passion, needless to say, next comes Edinburgh, Sterling, Chillon Castle on Lake Geneva, Old Town Geneva and small quiet towns - Annecy in France. Wondering around the cobblestone streets and the winding stoned stairs and turrets of castles, I felt the spirit of knights, kings and queens and the palace intrigues came to life... if only the walls could talk!
Do not be tempted to buy tickets on airlines that initially seem to have the "best fares" and schedules but have reputation of frequent schedule changes closer to departures that render those airlines as eventually having the worst schedules and costs. Schedule changes may incur extra costs such as overnight hotels or completely unacceptable timings that result in last minute refunds and paying for expensive alternative tickets on other airlines. If no alternative flights are available, the entire trip may have to be canceled.
No one is happy with just one destination. The whole world has so much to explore and new fantastic places to experience. Be it climbing the "Steps to Heaven" of the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet or the Palace in Thimphu, Butan or dangerously up the narrow steps to the hanging monasteries and the "Tiger Nest in the cliffside or Paro Valley, Butan... or be amongst the jungle tribes who haven't glimpsed modern civilization but thriving in the Amazon jungle or Borneo... or visit the South Pole to be amongst the tuxedo clad debonair flightless feathered creatures, commonly called penguins. Whatever rocks your boat! Going back in time is always nostalgic ~ to walk the streets and paths of ancients or just to revisit your honeymoon trip of yore or childhood trips that bring back so much wonderful memories... that you can repeat time is incredible!

I’ve been in the travel industry for over 25 years and started in this industry because of my love of geography, history and learning about world cultures. I am an air specialist and have worked primarily on complex international itineraries, however also work on booking cruises and land itineraries too.
I’ve been fortunate to visit many countries during my years and enjoyed every place, however couple favorites are Australia and several trips to India. India has many flavors to offer from its people, wildlife, natural beauty, history, food and cultural diversity. I would suggest people experience India at least once in their lifetime.

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and moved to New York City in my youth. My father had the American Dream. His courage and choices were a big influence in my life. He accepted a position with USAID which took us to Panama for 3 years. By the time I turned 21 it was clear that feeling comfortable in one place made me uncomfortable. I've traveled to 60 countries and still call it only the beginning.
I find all my trips are worthy and memorable. I have a passion for wildlife conservation and wine tasting. This combination is a South African adventure!
Travel is less stressful when I secure dinner reservations in advance for arrival night and weekends. Check your passport expiration date every year on New Years Day!

My most memorable trip was our first international trip as a family of five. Being able to see our children's excitement and seeing the destination through their eyes is a memory I will never forget.
I always suggest coming back home with some extra cash in the local currency from your trip (Euros, Pounds, etc). This way you always have local currency for your next trip and are ready to go!
There are so many amazing destinations to experience, but I think it's not only about the destination that matters. It's also about the person with whom you travel. Friends and family can change the way you see and experience a destination and it's these memories that you will remember for a lifetime.

While I can make any destination a reality, my most popular destinations are Italy, England, South Africa, the Caribbean, cruising around the world, Hawaii - if you imagine it, I can make it a reality. Couples, multi-generational groups, girls' trips, solo trips and honeymoons can all be arranged.
When you close your eyes and see yourself traveling, what do you imagine? Are you and loved ones sharing a gorgeous villa on a Mexican hilltop overlooking the Pacific Ocean? Or perhaps you and your partner are strolling the cobblestone streets of Southern Italy? Whatever it is that you imagine, Arlen will bring it to life. As the founder of Travel Imagined, a McCabe World Travel affiliate, Arlen treats every client's trip as if it were her own. Arlen started traveling globally as a teenager, when she studied abroad in Northern Spain. Her favorite travel experiences include showing her daughters the world-Europe, South Africa, the Caribbean islands are some favorite destinations. Arlen pours countless hours into research, leverages her broad network of global connections and dedicates her meticulous nature into perfecting every itinerary. Partnering with her is a first-class experience. From multi-generational family trips to Hawaii to exclusive honeymoon experiences for couples to inspiring retreats for solo-travelers and retirees, Arlen listens and takes care of everything so that whatever it is you imagine, becomes reality.
My most memorable trip was visiting the incredible, friendly and beautiful country of South Africa. While I had preconceived thoughts in my mind about a safari, absolutely nothing prepared me for the Sabi Sands Game Reserve and the animals we admired in their habitat. The graceful giraffes, elephants traveling with the smallest calf nestled close to its mother to the oldest leader of the pack, leopards searching for their next meal, lions roaring to call for their mates and the elegant striped zebras. This was definitely not a visit to DC's National Zoo! It was such a peaceful environment and the animals were not afraid of us as we were most respectful and kept our distance. That is not to say, they didn't come right up to our jeep which gave us a thrill and required us to remain motionless for a few moments. This was a once-in-a-lifetime trip and one that we enjoy reminiscing about often.
I'm always prepared with my electronics when I travel. The airline might say they have electricity to charge phones/iPads, etc. but I have a very small portable charger. This has come in handy while traveling through the night on an airplane or enjoying an 8 hour tour in Florence. The charger fits in the palm of my hand and I never have to worry about not having my cell charged, my camera ready for the perfect photo opportunity, my book readily available for a few quiet moments before bedtime and loved ones are always able to reach me.
I never imagined I would have the opportunity to visit Cuba but it became a reality in October 2022. Every day, I take for granted that I can visit my local grocery store and have so many options for meat, vegetables, fruit, dessert, drinks and toiletries. . We can choose the brand we prefer, the flavor, the size and take it home to prepare for a snack or meal. In Havana (all of Cuba), their bodegas are government run and have limited options and supply. Cubans have ration cards and are given certain amounts of eggs, milk, flour, meat, etc. per week. There aren't convenience stores to buy a soda and quick snack-even if there were, they would be so expensive and unaffordable to most. We go to restaurants always knowing what is on the menu and choose our favorite meal. In Cuba, the menu fluctuates daily based on what is available making it difficult for the chefs and their guests since the menu is constantly changing. Travel gives us the opportunity to see how life is around the world and shows us how fortunate we are. Cuba is a wonderful destination to visit-beautiful, filled with history and getting to know local Cubans who love their country and are so hopeful for their future.

After 15 years as a yacht stewardess/chef, I was introduced to the notion of being a travel advisor. It seemed to be a natural transition from one career to the other. My passion and enthusiasm for personal travel could actually help others experience the same wonders! I hope that being a part of the travel community will help and encourage others to see what this amazing world has to offer. It is my ultimate goal to be able share and experience as many of the sights, sounds, and flavors of all the cultures from around the world.
My most memorable trip cannot be narrowed to one, but I can say my top three are New Zealand, Galápagos Islands, and South Africa. The common denominator of them all was the fact that I was able to immerse myself in the culture, the ecology and wildlife, and cuisine. To me, the most important part of experiencing destinations, it's to fully be a part of that new destination. In each trip, I experienced the wonders of all the wildlife in its natural habitat, taste the unique flavors of the local cuisine, and live amongst the indigenous people.
A definite must for travel is packing a secret stash of your favorite "home" snack. No matter how delicious food is while traveling abroad, sometimes nothing can cure a craving or a little bit of homesickness like your favorite snack!
I think so much focus is traveling outside of where you're from. But don't forget where you came from and explore the beauty and the uniqueness of home or your country.

As a single mom of two kids, my family means the world to me. So when my baby girl turned 18, I decided to do something BIG to celebrate. I booked my kids and I on a 12-day Mediterranean cruise. But it soon transformed into so much more. Before I knew it, what started as "just" a cruise soon became an epic, 22-day European adventure. While I had a travel agent book the cruise for us, I planned everything else-every private tour, transfers between destinations, the best hotels in prime locations, and even my travel insurance. When I opened Blueprint Travel in 2015, not long after our epic European adventure, I vowed to provide my clients with superior service every step of the way-because you deserve a vacation that's tailored to you from beginning to end.

South Africa had always been on my bucket list. I planned a business trip to familiarize myself with the options for my clients and decided to bring my son along to see what it looked like for a family traveling together. It was the most amazing, educational, and bonding trip we both had ever taken. Experiencing a new culture and history together while hopping from plane to plane and city to safari solidified our trust and respect in each other. We talk about that trip at least once a week even five years later.
Pack your patience and stay calm. Inevitably, if you travel enough, a plane will be delayed or canceled, your room won't be ready, or something won't go as planned. The best thing always is to stay patient, calm, and call your travel advisor. Your next decisions are best made in this manner. Most find these instances turn out to be great stories to tell once you return.
Try one authentic local experience when traveling. Even if it's Vegas!

Travel for me, has always been a wonderful way to Create Memories that last a lifetime. My Passion is exploring the World and then sharing my first hand destination knowledge with clients. My experience, becomes "Your Adventure" as I plan your trip from beginning to end. I enjoy exploring various cultures and Cuisine and of course, shopping which are all integral parts of any Journey. My goal is to match the perfect destination with your particular desires.
A Cruise that circumnavigated the Island of Sicily. I was able to spend time in Palermo where my Grandparents lived before immigrating to the U.S.
If traveling with a companion, I always recommend packing each suitcase to include clothing for each traveler, that way, if a piece is delayed, each person can be comfortable until the bag is retrieved.
Italy and any region. Since Italy was united in 1861, the diversity of each region provides a destination that can be visited multiple times with different experiences

After many years as an avid traveler, I turned my passion into my career in 2007 and haven't looked back since. I believe in the power of travel to transform and enrich through human connection. What better feeling can there be than knowing I've provided opportunities for people to spend their precious time experiencing new cultures, marveling at nature's beauty, learning about history, relishing new foods, or simply relaxing? When not traveling, I like to read, work out, hike, enjoy good food and wine, and spend time with family and friends.
I usually respond with wherever I've just been as I find pretty much everywhere fun, amazing, and interesting! While I've enjoyed trips to over 60 countries, a few things stand out in my mind... trekking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru with my husband and young adult sons; being on safari in South Africa, Botswana, and Tanzania; all things Italy from Rome to the Dolomites; Santorini, Greece; exploring the Forbidden City and having lunch on the Great Wall in China; snorkeling in Bora Bora; hiking in Patagonia; and relaxing anyplace with a white sand beach, blue water, and good book.
I never travel without a black lightweight cashmere pashmina - it can be a blanket, pillow, accessory with almost any outfit, or cover my shoulders at a religious or holy site. And always bring an adventurous spirit and a sense of humor!
There is nothing like the magic of being outside in the African Bush while on Safari, enjoying a drink as the sun goes down after a day of incredible game viewing.

USA, South America, Caribbean, Europe, families, couples, and groups
My specialty in the last 20 years has been in corporate travel, and I have kept up to date in the leisure end of the industry as much as possible. Specialty destinations are mostly USA, South America, Caribbean and Europe for families, couples and groups.
I was 19 years old when I decided to go into the travel industry as a temporary career as I wasn't sure as to what I wanted to do with my life at that point. I was bit by the travel bug instantly! Learning the business from the time that we had to hand write airline tickets was a challenge that I didn't expect to love. Here I am, 40+ years later and still loving what I do. Seeing my client's excitement about their next trip has always been a great part of enjoying my work so much. I believe that a person should never travel to escape life-travel to regain life! As your travel advisor, I will give you the wings to want to put on to fly to places and learn about all the beauty and culture that the world has to offer.
My most memorable trip was a family trip to Italy where we rented a Villa in Tuscany, met my husband's family and spent time in the Amalfi Coast. An unforgettable trip!
I believe in immersing in the culture of whatever country you are in. I highly recommend trying the local cuisine and getting to know the locals.
Every destination is always my favorite trip at the time I'm there. Italy stands out, as the beauty, the food and there is always something new to see every time you visit.

My preparations for my own travel were almost as much fun as the vacation itself. It was a natural jump to travel planning. I have been a travel advisor for more than 40 years and I have never regretted it for a moment. If I am asked for a destination that is not within my scope of familiarity, I immerse myself in research until I feel comfortable making recommendations. I am prepared for the next time it is requested. I take my time to give my clients accurate information and in-depth recommendations beyond the scope of my work. Most of my client base is composed of repeats and referrals, who place their total trust in me.

My most memorable trip was to Cuba. I was fortunate to go during a period of relaxed relations. The Cuban people were amazing and were happy to interact with us in every way. We brought food products and medications that were extremely appreciated.
I recommend that visitors to the destination try to learn some of the local language, even if they use an online dictionary. Locals appreciate your efforts. Also plan ahead so that you are familiar with the currency and geography. Be a bit adventurous. People love to help strangers.
I fell in love with Iceland. People were wonderful and friendly. The sights were different than we're used to. My only regret was not seeing any puffins or a distinctive Northern Lights. (I was there in September). I would also recommend Ireland and Greece, but I am omitting many other places. Go where your heart takes you!

Culinary, Wellness, Family/Multi- Generational trips, Couples travel, Europe
I specialize in Culinary, Wellness, Family/Multi-Generational trips: Europe (Italy, Germany, France, UK being my most booked) and couples escape trips to Beach Resorts to reconnect. South America and Mexico have also been favorites for these types of trips too.
I spent my early adulthood on stage and touring or working in foreign countries and traveling within them to make the most of our time on the road. I became very quickly aware of what I liked and didn't like about travel and life in hotels , and eventually made my way into luxury hotel sales as a career for many years after that. I know many aspects of what travel can look like and what memories and experiences make the biggest impact. My enjoyment for the world and exploration as a luxury travel agent now imparts my own travel hacks and favorites into the fabric of others' travel memories and playbooks. It makes this passion so rewarding!
I took a very last minute train trip to Kyoto when living in Tokyo, and it was the best time I had exploring the gorgeous temples, food markets and scenery and planning not to miss a moment! Learning the incredible history and trying the exotic foods lit a fire for more - this trajectory made me more ambitious to travel and try things out of the box more readily, I will say it also made me want to learn as much as I could about the destination before I got there too - spent the whole train ride to Kyoto trying to memorize the Fodor's guide!
I don't travel without the holistic "no more jet lag" pills and my noise canceling headphones anymore overseas! I also pack my patience. :-)
I believe that everyone should experience a remote island or destination at least once in their lives to feel the remoteness and the time with one's self that ultimately reflect on many things. The stillness, perhaps even the untouched nature surrounding you, makes the appreciation for all that you return to even more impactful. That destination for me was in the Maldives. An exquisite experience!

South Africa. It evokes a feeling like nowhere else in the world. I don't say this casually. IT IS THE DREAM VACATION. There is something for everyone including romance, action, adventure, family, relaxation, food, wine; South Africa has mastered the art of gracious hospitality. Until I visited, I didn't understand this.
To help keep you organized, fold and roll your clothes (which also creates a little more space). Then organize and place them in separate packing cubes (one for slacks, one for tops, one for underwear and socks, etc).
I've been known to make proclamations such as "get out of your comfort zone". We should strive to be bold, curious and enthusiastic. The point is to experience something new. Go snorkeling, jump off of a cliff, eat new foods, sleep under the stars/go camping, travel far, pet a whale, drink tea and eat freshly made bread with a Berber family in their home, look a lion in the eye as he brushes by you only inches away as you sit in the open air safari vehicle, take a cooking class, go waterfall rappelling or dry canyoning, immerse yourself in a new culture. It's empowering to move out of your comfort zone.

Family travel, river cruising, Europe
Family Travel, River Cruising, Europe
Travel with family and friends is a passion for me. I have travelled with my own now adult children since they were young and understand the special requirements of traveling with all ages. From road trips across the United States to train trips across Italy; from cruises to Alaska and the Mediterranean to white water rafting in Costa Rica; from island hopping in Hawaii and Greece to safaris in Africa, we've enjoyed all these special experiences and the quality time together. I also enjoy creating unique itineraries for groups of friends - river cruises in Europe and ocean cruises around the world, customized country explorations of Ireland and Peru, and food/wine tours of Spain and Portugal.
So hard to decide! South Africa with my family? So incredible to experience the safaris, wine country, and local culture together. European Christmas markets on a river cruise with a group of friends? The lights, food, and Christmas spirit were absolutely magical. Exploring the Croatian coast on a small ship as a couple? Incredible to dive overboard into a secluded swimming cove in the morning, then turn around and visit a small seaside town with tons of history in the afternoon. I guess I just love to travel!
Best fun travel tip: A walking food tour is the best of both worlds - you get an overview of the city you are visiting AND get to experience the local cuisine. Bonus is that you can get restaurant recommendations for the remainder of your stay from your local guide. Best practical travel tip: Invest in a luggage tracking device! From personal experience, it can make a difference in having lost luggage returned!

I started in the travel industry in 2004 specializing in cruises. After a few years I realized luxury cruising was a specialty I was good and and had fun doing. I traveled with small groups as a host and took pride in working onboard with my clients to ensure a very special experience. For the last 15 years I have been an affiliate of a Virtuoso Agency opening doors and new experiences to my clients I could never have dreamt. I manage our clients trips with complete care and dedication providing excellent service to each and every trip. I am known to plan unique and creative trips with a young and energetic approach. I works with clients interested in forming a lasting relationship with a travel professional they can trust and rely on. I specializes in luxury tours and cruises as well as tailor-made independent travel.
My most memorable trip was a safari to Zimbabwe and Zambia. I stayed in tents ranging from luxury to expedition in style and got up close with nature in a way I never could have imagined. I purchased a new zoom lens for my camera so I could practice my photography and came back with the most amazing photographs and videos from our many game drives. This was my first visit to the falls from the Zimbabwe side and the falls were full and spectacular! We ended our trip in Cape Town and that is a city I could visit over and over, but this was the first time I hiked Table Mountain. I highly recommend this experience with one of our fabulous guides!
I highly recommend bringing a small portable charger on safari in case they don't have outlets in your tent, or to keep your phone charged on safari if you are using it for pictures!
I think everyone should visit New Zealand. While the flight is long, it is so worth it! The food is true farm to table, the people are incredibly kind and the views are spectacular.

The transformative nature of travel and its special ability to change the way we see the world has always stood out to me. A life-long traveler, I've visited dozens of countries and spent time living on three separate continents. As a reformed attorney, I utilize the same strategic planning, attention to detail, and research skills I honed practicing law to thoughtfully design a travel experience unique to you.
A few that stand out are: jungle trekking in the Amazon, the natural beauty of Australia and New Zealand, exploring the streets of Paris with no destination in mind, lingering long lunches at the beach clubs in St. Tropez, Japan's mix of modernity and tradition, and the casual romance of Portugal.

Culinary, Adventure, Cruising, and Wellness travel
I specialize in Culinary, Adventure, Cruising, and Wellness travel. From the age of 24 I've lived in (in order) Hilton Head, Charleston, Spain, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, San Francisco, Naples, FL and presently reside in Portland, Maine.
I was born and raised in Arkansas, graduated from the University of Arkansas, and at the age of 24 left Arkansas for Hilton Head, SC to begin a career in hospitality. That luxury hotel career led me to St. John and St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where I entered the beverage distribution business and grew my knowledge of food and wine. I've always had a passion for travel, and my wife Catherine (who is from Maine and whom I met while living on St. Thomas) and I travel to eat. We spend more time reading menus online than we do watching Netflix! We reside in Portland, Maine with our only child Saltine ... a 9-year old black lab.
While living in Hilton Head in 1995, I took a 4-month trip around the world with 3 friends. We visited 20 countries on 4 continents in total. It was a trip for the soul that I never wanted to end. Our first flight was from Atlanta to Dublin and our last was from Hong Kong to San Francisco, as we traveled eastward around the globe. We spent 3 weeks in western Europe, 2 weeks in Greece/Turkey, 6 weeks in Malaysia/Thailand/Indonesia, 4 weeks in Australia, and 2 weeks in Hong Kong/Nepal.
2 things - This won't sound surprising coming from someone who loves food as much as I do, but I always travel with a small sea salt tin that I can easily remove from my pocket to make that bite just right! Also, I always learn a few phrases in the language of the country I'm visiting. Even if it's just "hello" or "thank you," it goes a long way in the eyes of the locals that you don't immediately assume they speak English.
Speaking from a U.S. based point of view, there are so many extraordinary destinations that are relatively short flights to Europe or the Caribbean or Mexico/Central America, but I would suggest that everyone travel to the other side of the world, and that means Asia. Thailand is an amazing place. From sleepy beach communities to action-packed Bangkok, there is something for everyone. The people are incredibly friendly (especially those in hospitality with an unmatched customer-service mindedness), the food is sensational, and it will open your eyes to a whole new world.

Our Virtuoso hoteliers and travel partners all over the world work with us to enhance a wonderful experience for our clients. I value the personal relationships and understand the importance of 'one to one' connection.
My most memorable trip was to South Africa as I love animals and experiencing different cultures. It was a trip of a lifetime and would like to do all Africa one day.
I suggest getting ready for a trip well in advance and packing a few days before. Get the suitcase out and start adding on a table or other area as you think about what is needed. Do not put items in the suitcase because if you are like me, may forget what is in there. How many times have I unpacked before I arrived! Bring hand sanitizer. Pack energy bars for the trip. Be sure to have all needed contacts and confirmations for your stay; on your phone and also on paper. Purchase travel insurance

I have circumnavigated the world twice and it is always difficult to pinpoint one place that has had the most impact. All places have their own unique and varied experiences. The places that come to mind and stand out have been the Galapagos, Nepal, Croatia, Italy, Argentina, Machu Picchu, Angkor Wat, Iceland, Kenya, Jordan, Alaska, Thailand, Australia and South Africa to name just a few. I am most fortunate to live just outside Vail Colorado as well, enjoying all of the benefits that the mountain high country has to offer, especially skiing!
I have been in the travel business since 1987 doing corporate and leisure travel, starting with my own agency and then merging with other agencies as the industry constantly changed. Travel is a personal passion and I take great pride and joy in helping people be the collectors of extraordinary experiences across the world.
Being a travel consultant has been my main career. It has taken on various forms depending on my client's interests. I am very lucky to wake up every morning, doing what I love to do with all the people I have been working with for sometimes over 25 years. It is exciting to help people explore their own various passions and allow me to live vicariously through them when I'm unable to hop on a plane myself! Serving others in their pursuit of experiences across the globe is indescribably gratifying and I am one lucky person to have the skill and matching passion to enable others to fulfill their dreams!

Europe, North America, Mexico, and the Caribbean
I specialize in travel to Europe, North America, Mexico and the Caribbean. While living and attending school in Germany and Belgium, I explored most of Europe before the age of 25 and have a deep understanding of European languages and culture. As a Virtuoso Travel Advisor, I am also excited to share my experience visiting destinations and properties throughout the Americas.
Travel is the best bonding experience one can enjoy with loved ones! I grew up in a family of travelers, beginning with many childhood relocations (and new discoveries!) resulting from my father's career as a U.S. Air Force officer. In addition to the U.S., I lived in Belgium and Germany and can count visits to more than 30 countries on four continents. After 35+ years in the technology industry, I changed careers to form Destinations to Discover to inspire clients to dream, explore and discover spectacular scenery, natural wonders, new cultures and history. As a trusted Travel Advisor, it is a pleasure to share with clients my knowledge and experience crafting customized itineraries and experiences.
My most memorable trip occurred 30 years ago shortly after the Gulf War. While my Naval officer brother was on leave in the Persian Gulf, I visited him in the United Arab Emirates. We combined a luxury hotel stay for New Year's Eve festivities with a multi-day trek into the desert as guests of a Bedouin tribe. This experience shaped my view of the breadth of exciting destinations to discover and increased my passion to explore the world.
On travel days, I recommend avoiding any bag swinging from your arm or shoulder. Backpacks, cross-body bags and luggage with wheels will save your back!
Everyone should visit the Hawaiian Islands at least once! The multiple micro-climates are fascinating and the lush green scenery is absolutely stunning!

I got my first passport when I was two and have been traveling ever since. My father’s job as a pilot took our family all over, including eight years living in Venezuela. The language, people, and spectacular views of the mountains and sea left a lasting impression. On layovers as a flight attendant in my twenties, I learned how to see a city in less than 24 hours, which has helped tremendously in booking trips for clients who only have a short amount of time to spend. In 2012 I was featured in a Conde Nast article called “Five Perfect days in Dublin and County Clare.” I still get calls from readers requesting the exact trip. The best part about being a travel consultant is getting to know my clients and personalizing their travel itineraries. Most of the trips I plan are for multi-generational families and small groups, and many are first time travelers to Ireland. I first fell in love with Ireland on a trip with my husband, who was researching his family tree and looking for his grandparents’ homes. I now travel to Ireland frequently and am continually captivated by the green, the charm, and the warm and welcoming Irish people.
- Condé Nast Top Destination Specialist Ireland 2001-2023
Renting Coolclogher House, an 18th century manor home in the west of Ireland, for a mini family reunion. It was big enough for the twelve of us to spread out, make ourselves at home, and experience Irish living at its finest. We were happy relaxing on the expansive property with its sweeping views of the mountains, gardens, and pastures or walking to nearby Killarney Park with its beautiful lakes. We split up to pursue individual interests during the day—golf, horseback riding, shopping in Killarney—and met together for dinner, whether it be one we created from local markets, eaten in the stately dining room, or at one of the many restaurants in town. A driver guide took us on group excursions to the Beara Peninsula, Cork, Kenmare and the Ring of Kerry. It was a unique and memorable way to reconnect with family and experience the beauty of Ireland.
I always carry on a bag with extra clothes in case my luggage is lost. In that bag I bring a bathing suit if my hotel has a pool. If your room isn't ready, you can relax by the pool after the long overnight flight.
Ireland has something for everyone!! Beautiful hotels, manor houses and castles. Spectacular scenery including mountains, cliffs, lakes and rivers. Amazing farm to table cuisine grown and raised in Ireland. And so much more!! Best of all the friendly, charming and humorous Irish people!!!

I am incredibly grateful that many of my lifelong passions—my obsession with travel, my creative skills, my organizational acumen, and my enduring relationships with clients—have converged at McCabe World Travel!
From a Midwestern start, I journeyed to New England for education, launched a successful business in Washington DC, and raised my family in Annapolis, MD—all while seizing every opportunity to travel along the way. Over my 25-year career in interior design, I collaborated closely with clients to bring their visions to life, understand their needs, deliver superior products, and seamlessly manage the logistics. These skills translate directly to my role as a Travel Designer, where I have the privilege of experiencing the world alongside my clients by crafting unforgettable itineraries with top-notch vendors, supported by the vast expertise of my travel colleagues. It’s a joyful journey, and I hope you will join me in it!
A 5-week journey through Southeast Asia, exploring Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. I was mesmerized by the overgrown temples of Angor Wat in Cambodia, the meandering Mekong River with elephants strolling alongside, and the vibrant floating markets of Vietnam. I traveled with a friend who was adopted from a Vietnamese orphanage after the war. We visited her orphanage and met the nuns who had cared for her. It was a profoundly beautiful and personal experience.
Upon arrival, convert some money into small bills of the local currency so you can thank the hotel staff, waiters, drivers, and guides who make your trip amazing! And at the very least, practice saying “Hello” and “Thank you” in the local language!
Wherever calls to you, including places outside of your comfort zone. After all, we travel to expand our lives, experiences and perspectives, so go for it! Savor every bite and enjoy every step of the adventure!

The sense of wanderlust that I feel was definitely instilled in me by my mother. She worked hard and played even harder- by traveling! I love the planning, the journey, and the destination. I even love the sometimes crisis management and negotiation of bumps in the road. I think my personal travel and being a travel advisor keeps my mother's spirit alive in me. I immensely enjoy the research of destinations- the sights, the local flavors, and the people. It is my pleasure to work with my clients so that they have the most enjoyable and informative experience.
My most memorable trip was to Egypt. I went when I was in high school and the overwhelming scale of everything there was mesmerizing. The pyramids, the temples, the Nile, the desert but also the cities, the mass of humanity, the colors, smells, and the kindness of the people were unforgettable. I just recently travelled back to Egypt with my daughters because I wanted to have the same experience with them before they went to college. It was just as magical the second time!
My must haves to travel are: travel roll of toilet paper, seat covers, and hand washing soap sheets!
I think everyone should go to Egypt! Though we learn about ancient Egypt from a very early age in school what is even more important to experience there is the culture and way of life that is so different from ours in the US. Traveling to Egypt opens one's eyes to how others in the world live while seeing amazing sites along the way.

Travel has always been a passion of mine, so working in this field is a natural fit for me. My travels have taken me from the Caribbean to Europe to Asia, and many places in between. Personal highlights include Napa Valley, Nantucket, Turks & Caicos, Capri, Istanbul, Dubrovnik and Kyoto. So much of a destination's culture and identity is reflected in its culinary offerings, which is one of my favorite aspects of travel. While I love discovering hot new restaurants, I also seek out hidden gems that are frequented by locals. An excellent meal is often a trip highlight and I always enjoy sharing culinary experiences and favorite dishes from my travels!
Any time I visit Italy is always a memorable trip! I love everything about Italy: the landscapes, the people, the language, the food, the wine, all of it! I've been to Italy several times and I will never tire of going back!
Take lots of pictures - and make an album when you return home! I've always loved photography - particularly when traveling - and I try to make an album for each trip so I have something tangible to relive all of my travel memories. I know most people don't make photo albums anymore, but I am always grateful to have them!
New England in the fall is magical. September is still pretty warm and then the leaves start to change. While I love all of New England, Nantucket Island is my happy place.

I was hooked on travel when I took my first plane ride in 8th grade. I knew then that I would have a job that would allow me to travel the world. For 25 years after I graduated from University of Maryland, I worked for the airlines. From there I transitioned to my career as a Travel Consultant. I interview all new clients finding out what their interests are, what is on their bucket list and how I can help fulfill that list. I am happiest making beautiful memories for my clients.
I have So many favorite places that I have had the experience to visit. It's hard to pick just one! I would have to say that Africa would be among the ones at the top of my list. This is one place my husband and I have said we will return! Others that stand out are the Galapagos Islands, Peru, Italy, France ( Normandy , Provence, and Paris) Spain, Portugal and I could go on and on! Then there is cruising, a passion of mine. Sailing the Rhine and the Christmas Markets in Europe are not to be missed!

Turkey is one of my favorite destinations in the world. I love that it is the crossroads of so many different cultures, and you can have so many different experiences in one country - city, beach, and ancient landscapes.
Schedule in some downtime - you don't want to need a vacation from your vacation, and often the best experiences are when you are wandering around, interacting with locals, stopping for a drink in a cafe, or people watching in a park.
Travel with extended family - it is always amazing to see a destination or have a unique experience through different eyes.

Although I have been working as a travel advisor for six years, I have been an enthusiastic traveler for many decades. As one of seven children from a U. S. Navy family, travel has always been an essential part of my life!My favorite thing about travel is that every journey - large or small - makes me a more connected and happier citizen of the world and I work hard to empower my clients to experience the same joy.

My most memorable trip was to Egypt: I sailed the Nile on a dahabiya, explored extraordinary temples and monuments, enjoyed delicious food, and went down a 30 ft deep shaft and chamber tomb with a world-famous Egyptologist! The Egyptian people are some of the kindest and most interesting people I have ever met; they are justifiably proud of their ancient history and heritage.
My best pro travel tip is to learn how to say 'hello', 'goodbye', 'please', and 'thank you' - at least - in the local language. The smallest politeness can reap enormous benefits! (I also keep an Apple AirTag in each bag. )
I think that everyone of all ages should experience the majesty of Alaska, especially from the water. Our 49th state is a spectacular and varied natural wonderland - the wildlife, the water, the mountains, and the diversity of plants and trees are simply astonishing!

Europe, Italy, Africa, group trips
I'm all about creating tailor-made adventures and my favorite destinations are Europe (especially Italy) and Africa. I love planning group trips- families, multi-generational get-togethers, girls' getaways, and guys' adventures, all to create wonderful bonding and unforgettable experiences.
I am a former lawyer who decided to leave he courtroom behind to pursue my passion for travel and become a Travel Advisor. I work closely with my clients, offering expert advice and guidance throughout the journey to ensure they have the best possible travel experience. My favorite part of being a travel advisor is knowing I help create trips that leave lasting memories for my clients. It's so fulfilling to be a part of those special experiences.
My most memorable trip was a Kenyan Safari with my family that included a night at Giraffe Manor in Nairobi and safaris in Sumburu and the Masai Mara.
Wake up early at least one day on your trip! Waking up early lets you experience the charm of your destination without the crowds, providing a unique opportunity to explore its local culture, streets, and hidden gems in a more intimate and personal way.
The one destination I think everyone should experience is an African Safari. it's a unique and incredible opportunity to experience the beauty of nature up close and create unforgettable memories.

I travel, therefore I am ... full circle journey back to my roots! I was an International Studies major at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, learning Japanese and French. I was an exchange student in high school, participated in the Model UN, took my junior year abroad studying at the Sorbonne, lived a 10 minute walk from the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, and visited Norway and the Netherlands. I met my Juilliard-educated former husband in Jamaica, honeymooned in Japan. I dreamt of working in the foreign service or anywhere abroad. Instead, my transition year at Nordstrom where I fully embraced the deep dedication to customer service ended up lasting 7 years, in a place where I say I was born and raised in my career in sales and service. My daughter, Catja, reignited my dreams of travel and adventure which I put on hold so I could raise my four fabulous children as a single working mom. She spent her own junior year abroad in London and upon her college graduation went back for her Fulbright year at the University of Roehampton. My Alaia, Viggo, and Mikka have caught the traveling bug as well. As a luxury travel advisor, giving the experiences of travel to my children, my family and friends, and creating the very best vacation adventures for my clients making their dreams of travel come true is a love language all its own!
My most memorable trip was to Japan. Though I could pass for Japanese with my Asian features, being in Japen felt more foreign to me than traveling in Europe because of my strongly Spanish and Western-influenced upbringing in the Philippines. I was so deeply taken by the artistic sensibility of their culture reflected in absolutely everything ... their writing (Shodo), flower arranging (Ikebana), tea ceremony (Chanoyu), clothing (Kimono), I decided to study Japanese and ended up winning 2nd place in Japanese Speech Contests at Duke University during my junior and senior years at W&M.
Travel with an open heart, mind, and soul.
Traveling with loved ones ... sharing the experience of travel with family and friends is a gift. Nevertheless, feeling open to traveling on one's own and being open to making new family and friends around the world is a true blessing as well.

My parents raised me and my sister with a strong sense of our Italian heritage. They also helped foster a love of travel and other cultures. My mother is multi-lingual, and worked at the United Nations in her 20's. Later in life she became a travel advisor, and that is how I got started. I was enjoying a successful run as a television producer, and mom suggested I start working on travel part time. The rest is history as now it is my full-time career and passion. The best part of my advisory role is establishing relationships with clients. I love getting to know their travel preferences inside out, and creating experiences that last a lifetime.

I have been blessed to visit many incredible places across the globe, so this is a tough question to answer. However, if I had to choose, I would say my first trip to Ireland. The natural beauty of the Emerald Isle combined with the warm, welcoming people made me feel like I was home. It was everything I dreamed Ireland to be. The iconic countryside dotted with castles, lakes and sheep; the local music in the pubs; and the inviting hospitality made this a trip I will always treasure close to my heart.
When flying overseas, I always recommend booking a hotel night prior to your arrival, to ensure that your room is ready first thing in the morning. This takes the stress out of waiting for your room to become available in the afternoon.
Hawaii. Our 50th state has a history and culture that is unforgettable. The spirit of aloha shines through their people, places and traditions. It was on my first trip to the islands in 2004 when I was inspired to pursue my career as a travel advisor.

A 17 day tour that began in Tokyo and included Hong Kong, China and the China Wall, Thailand's floating markets, and Singapore. It allowed me to experience various cultures and provided memories to be cherished for a lifetime.
Be sure to utilize the local knowledge of your private guide in each destination as they can also be a great resource for hidden treasures of the destination.

My most memorable trip was our family holiday to Antarctica. We were on a luxury expedition cruise to Antarctica and the Falkland Islands. Our children now 19 and 23 have traveled extensively with us and I am most proud that they now both see themselves as Global Citizens. There is nothing better than to see your children's excitement when they learn about new places and have incredible experiences.

Travel is personal, but if I had to pick one experience, it would be to sit in a cafe and have a coffee or tea and sit back and watch the world go by and see how the locals live and interact.

Travel has always been an organic part of how I spent my time and how I enjoyed relationships with people I liked. It was a shared experience and added a purpose to my interactions. Since becoming an experiential and wellness-focused advisor, affiliated with McCabe World Travel, I have been lucky enough to dive into so many destinations and partners, and build my community of passionate travelers and network of suppliers. I enjoy working with people who are excited and thoughtful to maximize the time they have away, and to best spend it with those they are traveling with. I feel excited and honored to be a part of these journeys and to research and execute each itinerary for them to make their time seamless and amazing.

I travel pretty nonstop and really enjoy all phases and types of journeys. For me, being somewhere else, is more just living my life from that spot (and working to help my clients from there, during that time) while, of course, absorbing the destination, people, food and logistics. I feel energized in all locations - whether it's somewhere new or a return visit. And, I always try to maximize the time to learn as much as I can to share with others for their potential, future travel.
I enjoy reading books, non-fiction or fiction, which take place in the destination to which I'm going. I also make sure to connect with local residents once there, to better learn the real story of what it's like to live in that spot and their family's history and day to day, if possible. This relationship could be through a cab driver, hotel staff, tour guide, etc. but it is often the information or feel which stays with me upon my return home.
I think someone should have a trip go in a direction which is unanticipated. Although my professional planning is usually very predictable and smooth, I think those unexpected experiences (which may seem negative or positive at the time) are often those which stick with you and add the most.

There are so many special places on our globe, each time a visit a new destination it becomes my favorite! If I could only choose one??? that would be very challenging, but I would vote for revisiting Africa. I am a huge animal lover and it is very hard to beat the sunsets there! (Being with Meerkats in the wild is still on my bucket list!)
My best advice would be to work with a good travel advisor. We have your back before, during and after your travels!
The most important (travel) experience I can share is to stop and smell the roses. Even if that means you only "travel" to your backyard to sit on a bench. Allow yourself the time to disconnect from social media/ turn off those electronic devices and enjoy the beauty right there- be in the moment!

She started photographing in 1997, and since then her travels around the world have taken her to more than 39 countries. During the time of many of her travels, she attended the Ringling School of Art and Design and graduated with a degree in Photography and Digital Imaging. S he seeks to document her own personal experiences and to share with others the beauty and diversity of the world. "As the images of other photographers have inspired me to explore the world, I hope my own contributions will inspire others to do the same."
The most impactful and memorable experience was on a recent trip to Rwanda. Not only was trekking for Gorillas one of the most profound and powerful things I've done, but the country itself is nothing short of inspiring. Their outlook on the environment, health community and forgiveness is unshakeable and has left a long-lasting impression.
Packing cubes for keeping belongings organized in your luggage is an absolute game-changer. I'll never travel without them again.
An African safari is one of the greatest and most humbling travel experiences I can think of. Not only does one get to see and experience these majestic animals in their own environment but, by going on a safari, your tourist dollars help to preserve and protect these wild areas from human impacts. It's one of the only travel experiences I can think of where you truly are giving back.
